Nobu and Rukia returned to the student council office.

She glanced through the file—it was a student record from Shin’ō Academy.

“Tachikawa Nobu…”

She murmured the name aloud. It sounded vaguely familiar. Then she remembered—toward the end of the last academic year, when the Fourth Division had been reviewing promising graduates, she had seen this name.

Back then, Nobu had been listed among those eligible for early graduation.

Lately, that student council at the Academy had been getting a lot of attention, and if she remembered right, its president was also named Tachikawa Nobu.

The Fourth Division was the medical division, responsible for emergency response and general healthcare. They faced an inherent disadvantage when it came to recruiting new members—most Shinigami didn’t list the Fourth Division as their top choice.

Unohana paused her flower arranging and accepted the folder with a thoughtful expression.

“You work so hard, Isane,” Rangiku chimed in teasingly. “Isn’t today a day off? Still stuck handling paperwork?”

“Are you suggesting I’m a bad captain?” Unohana asked sweetly, eyes twinkling as she looked up from the file.

“…Absolutely not!”

Rangiku shivered visibly and shook her head at once.

Isane explained, “I just happened to run into a squad member delivering it on my way in.”

Unohana finished reading and gave a small nod. “A Kaidō-type Zanpakutō… quite rare. This Tachikawa Nobu should come to our Fourth Division after graduation.”

Rangiku blinked.

“Huh?”
