Chapter 5

Multi-Anime Crossover: Gojo Satoru Absolutely Refuses to Admit He’s a Side Character! [5]

Night fell.

Gojo Satoru leaned against the roadside wall, looking at the street that had grown much quieter than it had been during the day. In a few quick bites, he finished the last piece of honey sponge cake in his hand, then stretched comfortably.

“Mmm.”

“The desserts in this world really are pretty good.”

Licking the traces of sweetness from the corner of his mouth, Gojo brushed the crumbs off his hands, then dug three copper coins out of his pocket.

“Looks like I accidentally spent all my money.”

Gojo scratched his head. Now that he had eaten and drunk his fill, he was starting to feel faintly drowsy, but the three copper coins on him were obviously not enough to find somewhere to stay.

Still, Gojo did not think this could be blamed on him.

After all, as someone with a serious sweet tooth, there was no way he could see all sorts of desserts he had never even heard of in another world and not try them.

It was just that this world’s desserts seemed to be a little on the expensive side.

And he had bought a few too many…

Well, it made sense. Given this sort of medieval setting, being able to eat one’s fill was already pretty good.

Dessert, something that brought people happiness, already counted as a luxury. It made sense for it to be expensive.

“Seriously, couldn’t the hero do something about dessert prices while beating up Witches?”

“Looks like I’ll have to think of something, or I’ll be sleeping on the street tonight.”

Gojo took the last piece of candy from his pocket, tossed it into his mouth, and began thinking of a solution.

But even as the number of pedestrians on the street dwindled, he remained standing where he was.

“Tch.”

“If Suguru found out about this, he’d definitely laugh at me.”

After thinking for a long while and still coming up with nothing, Gojo simply sat down on the steps by the street.

In this situation, there was only one option. Once it was late enough, he could go to some high noble’s or merchant’s mansion.

The manors those people lived in definitely had plenty of empty rooms. He could just pick one.

In any case, ordinary people would not be able to notice him.

That method just felt somewhat unpleasant.

As he was thinking, footsteps sounded from not far away, especially clear on the gradually emptying street.

Bored out of his mind, Gojo looked toward the sound and saw several figures in crisp white uniforms walking over.

The one leading them was a tall, upright young man with fiery red hair like blazing flames, clear blue eyes, handsome features, and a striking bearing.

Every movement he made looked as if it belonged in a painting.

“Hm?”

At the same time Gojo noticed him, the other party also looked toward him immediately.

Their gazes met in midair.

Instinctively, the moment their eyes met, Gojo immediately perceived the other party’s presence.

Under the gaze of the Six Eyes, Gojo could clearly sense the exceptionally pure aura surrounding the young man before him.

That aura contained no malice, but carried an extraordinarily powerful sense of vitality and order, like a sharp sword resting within its sheath—its edge restrained, yet impossible to ignore.

Feeling that presence, Gojo’s eyes brightened faintly beneath his sunglasses.

He immediately stood and walked toward the other party.

“Hey, you guys are patrol guards, right?”

Gojo cheerfully waved at the group, speaking as if they were already familiar.

The red-haired man at the front had a gentle expression. He nodded politely to Gojo and said, “The knights of our order are currently carrying out patrol duties. May I ask what business you have with us, sir?”

At that, Gojo broke into a smile.

“In that case, I’ve got the right people.”

As he spoke, Gojo held out both hands.

“Come on, arrest me.”

“Eh?”

The red-haired knight froze, apparently confused by Gojo’s inexplicable statement.

“It’s fine. Just arrest me and lock me up for the night.”

As he spoke, Gojo yawned. “It’s already late. Staying up all night isn’t a good habit.”

“Have you committed some crime and wish to turn yourself in?”

The red-haired knight stared at Gojo before him. Those clear, translucent blue eyes seemed to possess some strange power capable of reaching straight into the heart.

“Sure, let’s call it that. You can take me back and lock me up, then interrogate me tomorrow.”

Gojo stretched his hands forward again, looking as if he were urging them to hurry up.

“Although I do not understand why you would lie and say you have committed a crime…”

“May I ask if you have encountered some trouble?”

The red-haired knight did not pay any mind to Gojo’s actions, nor did he show any excessive reaction or impatience.

His tone remained calm as he looked seriously at Gojo and said, “If there is anything within my power…”

Seeing that the other party had seen through his rather halfhearted lie and had no intention of arresting him at all, Gojo reached up and pulled his sunglasses slightly down the bridge of his nose, revealing a pair of unusual eyes that even made the red-haired knight take a second look.

“If you put it that way, there really is something I need help with.”

“My name is Gojo Satoru. I’m a traveler from elsewhere.”

“You. Lend me some money.”

Hearing Gojo’s words, the knights behind the red-haired knight glanced at one another. One of them stepped forward, just about to reprimand him.

As they saw it, this strange, frivolous man was perfectly capable of working. Instead, he was standing here saying bizarre things.

But before they could speak, the red-haired knight raised a hand to stop them.

“My name is Reinhard. Since you are a traveler from elsewhere, why do you have no money? Were you deceived?”

Unlike his companions, Reinhard showed no other emotion and asked with care.

“Not exactly.”

Gojo shrugged, his tone casual. “I suddenly ended up here and didn’t have time to prepare.”

He did not explain too much. After all, “world travel” and the like was truly difficult to understand if said out loud.

Even now, he himself was still in the stage of half-believing it while exploring.

Though from how things were developing, the possibility seemed quite high.

After hearing Gojo’s reason, Reinhard did not speak, seeming to be thinking about something.

Seeing that he had not refused immediately, Gojo struck while the iron was hot.

“With your strength, you shouldn’t be short on a little money, right?”

“I can owe you a favor, you know. A favor from Gojo Satoru is worth quite a lot.”

Seeing how full of confidence Gojo was, Reinhard grew even more curious about this young man.

Under the effect of his Divine Protections, even without actively investigating anything, he could roughly determine that the person before him was not lying.
