Chapter 100

My Only Oshi, Jeanne! [100]

After the green-haired Servant said that, the sky itself began to shift. Countless golden ripples spread across it, and from within them, endless golden chains rained down.

“Laurent—”

“That King Arthur guy, protect Justeaze—”

“I’ll fight with you.”

“No need.”

With a flick of his right hand, the Luobishi Divine Sword appeared in his grip. Laurent stared at the onrushing chains and dashed forward without hesitation.

“My fighting style’s reckless. If we try to coordinate, it’ll only make things worse.”

No more words were needed. He trusted Justeaze. If she said the Servants here had to die, then he would kill them.

“Ridiculous. You don’t know your place.”

The green-haired Servant curled their lips into a contemptuous smile. Their fingers twitched—and the chains surged as if driven mad, accelerating all at once.

Whoosh!

Laurent pushed off with his right foot and launched himself into the air. As the chains shot straight at him, he met the first wave head-on with his blade.

Clang!

A sharp impact. The Luobishi Divine Sword was meant to “cut all evil,” but beyond that, it was simply a hard, sharp blade.

Against chains like these, it held no special advantage.

The first wave struck. In the same instant, countless chains lashed in from behind.

Laurent twisted midair through sheer control, knocking them aside again.

The green-haired Servant watched with interest. “Oh? You really are something. Without divinity, you might’ve made a decent Servant.”

“But what a shame. I need to end this quickly.”

They looked completely at ease. Controlling these chains cost only a small amount of magical energy, as if it were nothing.

And they still had stronger techniques they hadn’t even used.

Laurent didn’t answer.

After one exchange, he finally found a sliver of space and dropped back to the ground—only for another swarm of chains to whip toward him immediately.

It wasn’t that he refused to attack.

It was that his mind was racing through too many thoughts at once.

First—what they’d said earlier. Heroic Spirits seemed to be something one became only after death. And only Heroic Spirits could enter the Throne of Heroes.

Jeanne had a very real chance of becoming one.

So what about him?

If he took the name Évigi, then by rights he should become a Heroic Spirit too, shouldn’t he? After all, the upheaval he caused back then was no smaller than Jeanne’s.

If anything, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say Jeanne’s title as the Holy Maiden was so widely sung precisely because his own infamy was so notorious.

People prayed—and beside that, Jeanne only appeared all the more sacred.

There was no denying it: their names were known across the world, almost equally.

If it truly was possible, then what should he do now?

Kill the three Servants here, obtain the Holy Grail, succeed—then what?

Wish to return and change history? Wish for Jeanne’s revival?

Or… go to the Throne of Heroes himself?

“Can Heroic Spirits enter the Throne of Heroes whenever they want?”

“Hah?” The Servant’s reply dripped with mockery. “Of course not. To Heroic Spirits, the Throne is nothing more than an endless, virtual space. There’s nothing there. Just darkness.”

Boom!

Chains crashed down again, blasting apart part of Ryuudou Temple.

Laurent drew the battlefield farther from Justeaze—and then, in a split second, he halted.

Not because he wanted to.

Because in a brief lapse of focus, a chain had wrapped around his foot.

His brow tightened. The next instant, a tremendous force yanked him up and slammed him toward the ground.

Laurent adjusted his posture midair—

BOOM!

A violent impact. Smoke and debris billowed up from the ground.

“Laurent!”

Justeaze stared into the smoke, worry plain on her face, and immediately ordered, “Saber, go help him!”

“I won’t allow it!”

The green-haired Servant split off more chains to intercept Saber and hold him back. Then their gaze returned to Laurent.

They had felt it clearly: the chain had bound him.

And unfortunately, while the Chains of Heaven were formidable on their own, they became something else entirely against someone with divinity. Their strength—every aspect of their restraint—rose in proportion to the target’s divinity.

Meaning…

If the one caught was a god of extraordinarily high divinity—perhaps the last god of this era—then once bound, he would never break free.

And that was exactly what happened.

When the shockwave faded, Laurent stood within the haze, looking almost puzzled.

The moment the chain locked around his foot, he felt it—part of his power simply refused to respond. And the harder he resisted, the tighter the chain grew.

What is this…?

Then the next wave of chains whipped in.

Explosions thudded through the smoke. Laurent leapt clear—only for the chain around his foot to snap taut again and hurl him down.

More chains slithered over him, coiling layer upon layer until he was bound fast.

Even the Luobishi Divine Sword was caught, pinned completely.

He strained, trying to wrench his arms free—but he couldn’t move an inch.

His entire body was locked down. His arms trembled with effort, and still he couldn’t break loose.

How long had it been?

Strangely, he felt no panic.

If anything, he felt… stirred.

How long had it been since anyone could truly fight him?

He had lived in peace for centuries after coming to this world, but something of Absolute Evil still lingered within him. Even sealed, his nature did not change so easily.

His body trembled—whether from excitement or something else, he couldn’t tell.

And with all that power having nowhere to go…

Maybe today, for once, he could enjoy himself.

“Stop struggling.”

The Servant’s voice carried over. “The Chains of Heaven are a weapon against gods. The higher your divinity, the stronger their restraint becomes. Don’t think it’s just you—these are chains that can bind even the heavens.”

As Laurent continued straining against the bindings, the green-haired Servant spoke as if stating a simple fact.

Then chains formed over Laurent’s chest, angling down to pierce straight through him.

This time, Laurent said nothing.

His head hung low, his expression hidden.

A few seconds passed.

Slowly, he lifted his face—and smiled.

“Is that so?”
