“Here, Ishtar. Catch.”
Gilgamesh tossed a Holy Grail to Ishtar.
“Huh?”
She caught it with a bewildered look, then probed the magical energy inside it.
“Huh?!! Y-you, goldie—since when did you have something like this?!”
From Ishtar’s perspective, the Holy Grail held power that even she could not treat lightly. The sheer scale of it left her stunned.
There might not even be many of these in the entire divine realm. It was not that they could not be made, but…
“No need to look so surprised. Just hold onto it.”
Gilgamesh’s expression did not change. The other Holy Grail in his hand turned into a stream of light and entered his body.
With two Holy Grails inside him, the magical energy pouring from Gilgamesh grew even denser. Every movement now carried a startling pressure.
This was what it looked like when the vessel called Gilgamesh had been filled to the brim. He even had the distinct feeling of having overeaten.
It was obvious he could not force a third Holy Grail into himself.
“Right.”
Only then did Gilgamesh remember, and he slapped his forehead in annoyance.
“I’ve been so busy buying items that I’ve barely improved myself at all.”
But now was not the time to strengthen himself on the spot.
He looked into the distance. The gigantic floating temple was slowly drifting toward them, and magical energy coursed through the triangular walls that had barely retained their pyramid-like shape after fusing with the Sumerian temples, radiating frightening heat.
Wait.
Looking closer, Gilgamesh realized that was not the residual heat blasted out by a certain goddess. His pupils contracted.
“Move!”
Hearing that, Ishtar instinctively flew higher.
Gilgamesh himself steered the Vimana sharply to the left.
In the next instant, light and heat swallowed the place they had just occupied.
It was not an impact attack, because Gilgamesh heard no thunderous explosion. It was pure heat.
With a single glance, he saw yet another scar carved into the divine realm of the gods.
And that beam, dozens of meters wide, had extended directly from the temple itself. This strike was no weaker than Excalibur.
HUUUMMMMMMM!
The temple shifted its angle, and the torrent of heat drew steadily closer to Gilgamesh.
Unhurried, he steered the Vimana aside once more. With a single thought, all the Noble Phantasms waiting to be launched roared forth.
Thousands of Noble Phantasms fired at once, their magical energy intertwining and driving them even faster.
Crack!
A distance of barely half a li was crossed in the blink of an eye. One Noble Phantasm struck the temple first, and the rest followed close behind, slamming into the seemingly fragile earthen walls.
Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!
One Noble Phantasm after another buried itself in the temple, each one kicking up a violent tremor and announcing its presence.
But that was all.
The temple did not budge in the slightest.
“So that is how it is after all.”
Gilgamesh let out a sigh of understanding.
“But even that lies within my expectations, Ramesses II.”
Ea roared once more in his hand as he poured even more magical energy into it.
“You know, Noble Phantasms can explode too.”
That line would never reach the other man’s ears, but Gilgamesh intended to make the point in a far more direct fashion.
“Ozymandias, take this piercing strike!”
He swung Ea again, this time driving its greater power into the temple’s flank—the very side already studded with Noble Phantasms.
The crimson force shook the temple. Spatial cracks rattled its structure, and the heat attack ceased.
“It is useless.”
But the king seated within the temple dismissed Gilgamesh’s attack outright.
“Even the power of Anti-World cannot breach my present defenses. That last strike was your only chance.”
The king spoke with a trace of admiration.
“After seizing all the temples and Divinity of this pantheon, my power has been able to extend itself to some degree as well.”
“Though the first phase of the plan I designed and nearly completed was destroyed by you, I find myself rather fortunate for it.”
“I can have a proper fight now.”
The moment he said that, a deafening blast rang out.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
“What?”
He frowned and realized the outer defensive layer of his temple was already on the verge of being breached.
“How…?”
As confusion crossed his mind, a wild peal of laughter rang out.
“Bwahahahaha! This is my power!”
Gilgamesh laughed almost madly as he poured in even more force, and the temple actually began to tilt.
At the side, Ishtar saw everything clearly.
The Noble Phantasms Gilgamesh had fired earlier had never been retrieved into the Gate of Babylon at all. They were still embedded in the temple walls.
And then a scene unfolded that even she found outrageously extravagant.
Those Noble Phantasms—under the impact of Ea—exploded!
BOOOOOOOOM! BOOOOOOOOM! BOOOOOOOOM!
The blasts of Noble Phantasms detonating rang out without end.
“This goldie—does he have more money than the gods?!”
She stared in disbelief. You could fight like this too?
Whatever she thought of it, one thing was certain: it worked.
BOOOOOOOOM!
A Noble Phantasm embedded in the temple wall had already been forced into an extremely unstable state by Gilgamesh’s control over the Noble Phantasms within the Gate of Babylon.
Now, with one strike from Ea, most of the Noble Phantasms self-detonated on the spot.
And that alone still would not have been enough to shake the temple.
But—
BOOOOOOOOM!
A Noble Phantasm exploded, and the blade lodged inside the wall exploded with it. Under the immense pressure packed inside the cracks in the wall, the force of the blast formed a secondary impact.
BOOOOOOOOM!
A crater was gouged into the temple just like that, and the instant it formed, it was struck again by the released force of Gilgamesh’s Ea.
Crack!
“Bwahahahaha! Yes, that’s it!”
Watching the chain of blasted holes spread wider and wider across the temple under Ea’s impact, Gilgamesh laughed like a child playing with vectors.
“Your temple debuted last chapter. This chapter, it’s already finished!”
As he spoke, he raised his magical energy output yet again.
“Beautiful! Keep going, goldie!”
Ishtar cheered from the side as if she were the one attacking.
At last, through Gilgamesh’s sustained barrage and the repeated release of his trump card—
Crack!
The temple’s outer layer broke apart, exposing the structure within.
Ozymandias’s expression shifted slightly.
T/N: heh so rich and hot and FOURTH WALL BREAK?
