“[ENUMA ELISH]!!!”
THE STAR OF CREATION THAT SPLIT HEAVEN AND EARTH
The crimson torrent burst forth, swelling from a single point into a hundred-meter-wide pillar of destruction in an instant.
It did not crash down upon the enemy like a storm. It tore straight toward him like a beam of light. That alone showed how serious Gilgamesh was.
He had no intention of letting even a trace of power go to waste. He was wringing every last bit of damage from that strike. He could not possibly have been more serious.
As the temples along its path were wiped away, the pillar of ruin bore down on the man seated upon the throne in the void, and even that man’s usually unruffled expression seemed to shift ever so slightly.
Crack!
Space itself seemed to split before the eye. Cracks like shattered glass wound themselves around the pillar of light—some devoured outright by the crimson torrent, others spreading outward and dealing catastrophic damage to the temples and sphinxes scattered around them.
“Anti-World…”
The man’s murmur was about to be swallowed up with him by the torrent.
HUUUUUUUUUUM!
In the void, a colossal pyramid temple appeared and enclosed the man within it.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The temples the Sumerian gods had built upon the earth began to shake violently. Their foundations gradually broke apart, and their massive structures slowly rose into the air.
In the end, three temples, each as large as a small mountain, flew up to meet Ea’s torrent.
But they did not meet it head-on.
“Hm?”
Gilgamesh actually let out a note of surprise, because those three temples had slammed into Ea’s attack from the sides.
And then something almost absurd happened. The three temples were quickly crushed to dust, but Ea’s strike changed both direction and form.
Because they had not tried to oppose it directly and had instead struck from the side, Ea’s attack became like a jet of water from a faucet with a hand blocking part of its middle. Not only did its trajectory begin to tilt upward, its shape also ceased to be that tightly concentrated pillar of light and instead reverted toward the storm-like state Gilgamesh produced when he did not fully compress it.
Its aim had shifted, and its point of impact was no longer so tightly concentrated.
In the end, the attack slammed straight into the temple formed in the void.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMM…
A bass-heavy aftershock swept across the entire complex of the gods’ temples, and everything caught at the center of the collision was blasted so thoroughly that not even fragments remained.
The temple in the void, which had taken that strike head-on, went from pristine to riddled with cracks.
As the red light faded and Ea gradually slowed in Gilgamesh’s hand, the endless winds drawn by the healing fractures in space formed several tornadoes that raged between Gilgamesh and the temple in the void, now only a hair from total collapse.
“Goldie!”
At last, Ishtar found the chance to shout.
“I hadn’t even finished asking my question yet!”
“Oh? Then do you intend to keep asking?”
“Obviously! Just not right now.”
There was grievance on her face, but savage satisfaction as well. Looking at the temple that Gilgamesh’s strike had already driven to the brink of collapse, Ishtar wore an exhilarated grin.
“Since we’ve already started fighting, asking later will do just fine!”
“Oh? You’re not worried the two of us might lose?”
“There’s no chance of that!”
The Goddess of Venus summoned her divine vessel, Maanna.
Gilgamesh felt the sky darken. When he looked up, he saw a stretch of stars.
It was a conceptual night sky from the Age of Gods, called forth by a certain goddess.
“Venus” drew closer and closer until that goddess seized it in one hand.
This was not a Noble Phantasm, of course, but the Authority of a God. Its power would only be greater.
“You insolent wretch who dared offend a goddess.”
Gilgamesh watched as she loosed an “arrow,” and Ishtar grinned from ear to ear all the while.
“Die!”
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
This time, the temple in the void truly could not endure. In terms of sheer force, that blow was in no way inferior to Ea’s strike from moments ago.
And so a mushroom cloud bloomed in the majestic divine realm. Light and heat surged outward in layered waves, and the sheer scale of that “mushroom” alone would have been enough to terrify anyone with a fear of enormous things.
“I can only say that suits you perfectly, Ishtar.”
Gilgamesh spoke in weary admiration as a headwind swept over him, hot enough to scorch an ordinary person.
“So this is how Mount Ebih was pierced back then?”
“Hmph!”
A certain goddess gave a proud snort.
“That’s repayment for what happened earlier.”
Only then did she seem to realize what she had actually done, staring at the “mushroom” stretching farther and farther into the distance.
“Wait! Gil, did I hit too hard? If he dies, who’s going to tell me where all the gods went?!”
“Do not worry.”
Gilgamesh shook his head, his expression still grim.
“He will not die so easily.”
As if to prove his words true, Ishtar watched the temples of the Sumerian gods rise from the ground.
They crumbled, shattered, and reassembled in midair.
Then they flew into the “mushroom.”
The temple in the void emerged once more. Its architecture no longer resembled what it had before; it had fused with the style of the Sumerian pantheon and grown even larger.
What Ishtar found hardest to accept was that it had become completely pristine again. Not a single crack remained.
Bathed in sunlight and gleaming magnificently, it was practically a slap across Ishtar’s face.
“This…”
“Your attacks were quite impressive,” the majestic voice rang out from the pyramid floating in the sky. “It has been a very long time since I last felt threatened.”
“And that is with the present me having come here as nothing more than an avatar.”
Gilgamesh understood at once.
“Only an avatar? I see. No wonder.”
No wonder he seemed this weak.
Yes—Gilgamesh found this Ramesses II weak.
At only this level, he was nothing like someone who had unified the entire planet’s power through the domain of Mystery.
Judging solely by the abilities he had shown so far, he had not reached that realm.
Gilgamesh very much wanted to ask why this Ramesses II was invading this world, but as Ishtar had said…
“It won’t be too late to ask after we’ve finished fighting!”
Ea roared once more, and golden light flashed behind Gilgamesh.
Thousands of Noble Phantasms thrust forth from it, radiating enough magical energy to make anyone shudder.
With the spinning Ea in one hand, he reached into the golden ripple and pulled out two cups.
…
“So this is Uruk?”
Enkidu walked through Uruk’s streets, taking in the bustle while feeling a little uneasy inside.
Humans did not matter to Enkidu as much as birds, beasts, and trees—but they still mattered a little.
Looking at these residents, exploited by a tyrant and yet still forced to greet life with smiles on their faces, Enkidu felt a little distressed.
After drawing closer to the central temple, Enkidu spotted the priestess said to hold the highest position in the city directing people as they repaired the damaged main hall.
Enkidu felt Gilgamesh’s tyranny even more keenly.
Just how violent did he have to be to smash a temple up like this?!
Seeing the priestess standing not far away, apparently checking whether the temple had been fully restored, Enkidu walked over.
“Excuse me, you’re a priestess of this city, aren’t you?”
“Hm?”
Siduri turned her head and saw a green-haired person draped in what looked like a bedsheet standing before her.
“An outsider?”
she murmured, then waved a hand for the guards to come over.
“Seize her!”
Enkidu: ???
T/N: poor enkidu………………………… also heh gil can dual wield Ea’s so he’s not going all out yet hehehe
